Just checked last year’s policy with Bennetts – a much more practical approach!!

Hi Vincent,
I gave them a ring and they have confirmed that the bike has to be taxed. Their insurance policies do not cover SORN bikes!!
Also, while I was flicking through the docs, I noticed that there wasn’t the usual “theft from garage” clause stating that if a theft occurred from the property between e.g. 22:00 & 06:00 and the policy holder…[Read more] -

It doesn’t make sense?
Surely the risk to them has been lowered if the bike isn’t going to leave the garage.
It would make sense if they said you are only insured for theft from your registered garage.
It’s my 1st year with MCE. So it’s a bit worrying to hear you’ve had such a bad experience with them.

I would ring and question them on this Steve…as you say the bike is sorn you cannot use it so less risk to them…I think you have had a reply from the tea boy.. there are vast amounts of cars and bikes that people only use during the summer and they are all insured for fire and theft and sorned until they are used

I read on another forum that quite a few motorcycle owners, particularly multi bike owners had put their bikes as SORN.
I was considering “SORNing” my bikes.
I was reluctant as I always thought that the bike insurance was only valid if the bike was taxed and had a current MOT.

No members I know wanted that. It was dictated to us!!-
One of the biggest mistakes in my opinion was getting rid of the forum ,
If forums are not the chosen means of communication why do so many groups have their own forum ? .
I’m of back to the ktm forum .-
I am on the GS owners forum, the wealth of knowledge and support there is truly astounding. I bought my own GS on that forum. I suppose I am just used to that, and other owner forums, and expected similar navigation. I have found my way onto the Trail FB page, but it wasn’t obvious. I have been warmly welcomed on the Mid Wales FB page.

I’m a big fan of mousses and wouldn’t be without them.
I’d suggest keeping to about 50 – 55mph and I reckon you’ll be fine.
better for your bike as well.

Thanks, and to be honest the WR doesn’t like going 70 anyhow. Certainly not with the 48t sprocket!
