The principles for M/C tyre changing are well documented but as everything – practice makes perfect. Tyre levers do not have to be long. My favourite set are 7″ tip to tip. Have a look at Maxxis IT tyres. They seem to suit your bike and have reasonable longevity for your type of use.

Enjoyable read. I think there may well be a place in TRF Events catering specifically for the older and trail, rather than competition oriented bikes. They are every bit as much fun.

Too early to say about Trail yet. I agree with others that the Byway map is not accurate so could be a liability in it’s present form. I like many others liked the format of the old forum in that it was easy to retrieve (at least recent) information, I particularly enjoyed some of the technical posts. Thank-you for the information. I had been looking at the Maxxis tyres. So will probably go with those. Then begins the process of learning to change them. Have changed plenty of tyres on a mountain bike, but never a motorbike.
