Craig – if you can work Viewranger (beyond me) then head to https://my.viewranger/user/details/4123259 this is the TRF Viewranger Public Profile ~ I just robbed it from a post by David Blackhurst on Facebook TRF Trail group. Their is a beginner route around Buxton – 50 miles. It says Beginner route but suggest not for absolute beginners as it…[Read more]

contacting the group is easy – check the local group details on the main web site, give them a call or go along to the monthly meeting. most groups are very friendly and welcome new members.
as for which bike you are likely to get a list as long as your arm – there is a guide to starting off including bikes under the resources section.

The lane in question is bit south of my local groups “home ground” (Manchester group – so our local area is up in the Peak District), I was exploring aro…[Read more]

  • Legality of lanes question. Been told by my local Highways authority that a lane I understand to be a UCR, is an adopted highway (and no mention of any restrictions). Can I take it this means it is totally legit to use ~ (part of it is no wider than a footpath)

    Thanks Will

    • You should be OK as the Council have confirmed it is an adopted road, Some of which are narrow do to lack of vehicle use but they are still a road. If you are interested in ROW then you are best getting in touch with your local groups ROW officer. He will have knowledge of roads and byways in your local area.
